Jude is in talks to work with Atonement director Joe Wright to star in a new adaption of “Anna Karenina”. No details on which part he would play. From Variety:
Law in talks for ‘Anna Karenina’
Johnson also in negotiations to join Knightley starrer
Aaron Johnson and Jude Law are in talks to join Keira Knightley in Working Title’s “Anna Karenina,” which Joe Wright will direct.
Tom Stoppard penned the adaptation; Working Title’s Tim Bevan is producing.
In the title role of the Leo Tolstoy classic, Knightley will play a woman stuck in a loveless marriage who struggles with her attraction to a soldier.
Sources wouldn’t confirm which roles Johnson and Law would play, and Working Title and Wright are still working on casting major parts. Pic is aiming for a fall production start.
Project marks the third collaboration between Knightley and Wright; the first two, “Atonement” and “Pride and Prejudice,” were also period pics.
The novel has already been adapted many times, including a 1997 Warner Bros. pic starring Sophie Marceau and Sean Bean.
Working Title has a busy year with Universal’s “Paul” coming out on Friday, “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy” set for release this fall and “Everybody Loves Whales” set to bow sometime in 2012.
Johnson was most recently seen in the Weinstein Co.’s “Nowhere Boy”; Law just wrapped production on Warner’s “Contagion,” starring Matt Damon.
Johnson is repped by WME and Brillstein Entertainment; Law is repped by WME and Rick Yorn.

“There should be a number of ladies who would be very happy to walk around with Jude’s handprint and signature on their bottom!!”
Wizard Jeans are holding a special auction of a pair of white jeans that Jude has autographed and branded with his own handprint on the back pocket of the jeans to support the Macmillian Cancer Support charity. Bidding starts at £100:
This unique pair of Wizard Jeans will raise funds for the Macmillan Cancer Support charity. The bidding commences on February 14th and will conclude at midnight on 30th April 2011, with the winner announced in May.
“Jude kindly consented to paint his right hand with black textile ink and slap it on the left cheek of the jeans to produce this unique and fun piece of fashion,” says Sally Allen of Wizard Jeans. “We sincerely hope the jeans will raise a substantial sum for the benefit of the charity.”
Along with co-star and friend Robert Downey Jr, Jude presented at the Oscars last night and they were easily one of the evening’s highlights. Their banter was hilarious and charming with some reviewers wishing they had been the Oscar hosts! Perhaps next year…
