Law, who is currently shooting the Sherlock Holmes sequel, is reportedly in talks to join director David Slade’s next project.

Bleeding Cool reports that the movie, titled The Last Voyage of the Demeter, follows the ship that transports the Transylvanian count to the shores of England. Over the course of the voyage, which is documented by reports in the captain’s log, the vampire slowly slaughters the ship’s entire crew.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ben Kingsley and Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy) are also attached for supporting roles in the film, which is being described as something akin to Alien.

The Last Voyage of the Demeter marks Slade’s third major vampire movie in recent years, after 30 Days of Night and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

Jude joins 360 project

From CinemaBlend comes news about a new film project for Jude:

Jude Law Boards Fernando Meirelles’ 360

Production is finally beginning on the long-anticipated Fernando Meirelles drama 360, and the high profile names attached to the picture are only becoming more numerous. Jude Law has now officially joined the cast, adding to the already stellar lineup of Anthony Hopkins, Rachel Weisz, Maria Flor and Karl Markovic. The talent is certainly there. Now it’s just up to everyone to execute.

According to 02 Films, preproduction has already begun and principal photography will start March 21st and run through the end of May. The comprehensive story written by Peter Morgan of The Last King Of Scotland fame follows an expansive number of individuals as they make choices that ultimately effect not only their relationships but locations. Seven languages will be used at one point or another and shooting will take place in Paris, Vienna and Bratislava.

It’s important for any film to gain critical acclaim, but it’s especially important for a film like 360. With a nuanced product and multiple languages, it’s going to take positive word of mouth to make the average American fork over his or her money. It worked for Babel; let’s see if it’ll work for 360.

Jude returns to the stage

From the Associated Press:

Jude Law returns to West End in ‘Anna Christie’
LONDON (AP) — Jude Law will return to the London stage this year, playing a sailor who falls in love with a prostitute in Eugene O’Neill’s “Anna Christie.”

Law stars opposite Ruth Wilson and the play opens in August at the 250-seat Donmar Warehouse, where Law starred as Hamlet in 2009.

Law is currently reprising his role as Dr. Watson in a sequel to Guy Ritchie’s “Sherlock Homes.”

“Anna Christie” is part of a farewell season for artistic director Michael Grandage, who steps down in December. His nine-year tenure has seen a string of successes, including “Frost/Nixon,” ”Red” and “Hamlet,” all of which transferred to Broadway.

The season, announced Friday, also includes John Osborne’s “Inadmissible Evidence” and a production of Shakespeare’s “Richard II” with Eddie Redmayne.
