Tony Awards
Jude has been nominated for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play for his role in “Hamlet” on Broadway for the 2010 Tony Awards. The Tony Awards will be shown on television on June 13. Comment from Jude on his 2nd Tony nomination on Access Hollywood:
As for his Tony nomination, his second (he was previously nominated for “Indiscretion”), Jude said he was thrilled and planned to take on more Shakespeare plays in the future.“I’d love to do ‘Benedict,’ I’d love to do ‘Coriolanus’ and ‘Henry V,’” he said.
The Brit has fond memories of the play for which he is nominated – “Hamlet” — and he credits director Michael Grandage for having given the play a new edge.
”[Michael said] let’s tell this as a new play and in a funny way, once he said that, 400 years of pressure kind of disappeared and we got to look at it as if it were a fresh and exciting and brilliant… new story to tell,” Jude said.
